Where Are We Headed As a Nation? Our nation seems to be on a path contrary to what our Founding Fathers intended and certainly contrary to God's plan for us. As I thought about this, my mind drifted to what happened when any of God's children drift away from God and began to focus on other things, whether they be material or seeking power and control - as we are witnessing today.
This is especially true of some of our nation's leaders who are hungry for this power and control, contrary to what God expects of them. In the past, especially in the early days of Israel, many of the chief priests and elders were doing just that before Pilate. God had sent Jesus into the world to teach the Father's expectations and restored respect and worship of God. It was not in the Father's plan to have their leaders gain more and more power to control their people. We just celebrated Easter Season, the blessing of the Resurrection, Ascension, and Pentecost and this Sunday the Most Holy Trinity, all of which followed the crucifixion and death of our Lord and Savior. Looking back at that time we see that what happened at Calvary was a political event to gain more and more control over the people - sad, but so. Easter shows us that God's only Son, Jesus, can give us peace like no other person on earth can bring true peace in this life. His peace is a real peace for body, mind and soul. Then came the Holy Spirit bringing us special gifts; gifts for us to live our lives leading us to grow close to God. Precious gifts, all of which are spiritual and feed our souls. What an enriching season we just experience, Let us pray that our nation's leaders gained something during this special season and will turn more to God and not seek more power and control for themselves...rather ruling with peace and justice and work together that the love and mercy of the Lord fill our nation. Our leaders need to become an Easter people. Let us pray that our nation will once again become...
ONE NATION UNDER GOD!
May God bless us - each and every one...Deacon Loris
