Prayer to Mary, the Immaculate Conception - Patroness of the United States
What better time is there for us to pray to her for the needs of our nation. I offer you the following prayer not only for this month, but to pray once a month this year.
Most Holy Trinity: Our Father in Heaven, who chose Mary as the fairest of your daughters; Holy Spirit, who chose Mary as your spouse, God the Son, who chose Mary as your Mother, In union with Mary we adore your majesty and acknowledge your supreme, eternal dominion and authority. Most Holy Trinity, we put the United States of America into the of Mary Immaculate in order that she may present the country to you. Through her we wish to thank you for the great resources of this land and for the freedom which has been its heritage. Through the intercession of Mary, have mercy on the Catholic Church in America. Grant us peace. Have mercy on our president and all the officers of our government. Grant us a fruitful economy, born of justice and charity. Have mercy on capital and industry and labor. Protect the family life of the nation. Guard the precious gift of many religious vocations.
Through the intercession of our Mother, have mercy on the sick, the tempted, sinners - all who are in need. Mary, Immaculate Virgin, our Mother, Patroness of our land, we praise you and honor you and give ourselves to you. Protect us from every harm. Pray for us, that acting always according to your will and the will of your divine Son, we may live and die pleasing to God.
May God Bless the USA and each of us...Deacon Loris
A Message from Colleen Orchanian
To my St. Francis Family,
As I retire from my position as Adult Formation Coordinator, I am very grateful for so many blessings received during my tenure:
I am thankful for the support of every pastor who I have served. I am a person with lots of ideas for new things. Many times I've needed to be reined in - and that has always been done with love. I especially want to thank Fr. Mario for continually reminding me that my primary vocation is with my family and making it easier for me to gradually let go of things that were outside of my job.
I am thankful for the great staff in the office, for their support, patience, care, and willingly taking things off of my plate so that I could focus my efforts in the right places.
I am thankful for those who volunteer to lead small groups in adult formation. It is only by their giving of time and talents that we have been able to offer so much to our brothers and sisters in the church. And I appreciate their patience and forgiveness when I've dropped the ball.
I am thankful for each person who has let me be part of your spiritual journey in some small way and taking advantage of the things we offer to help you grow closer to God.
I am thankful to all of you who have included me in your prayers over the years and who continue to pray for me and my family. It is by your prayers that my work has been fruitful.
I am so thankful for the outpouring of love from you. I know I am blessed to have served you for these last nine years. Your notes and comments over the years have been a blessing and encouragement.
I am thankful that Linda McKnight has agreed to take over my responsibilities. Please give her the same support you gave to me. She has much to offer!
Although I am retiring, I am not going anywhere. I'll still see you at daily mass and 8:30 on Sundays. I will still lead the Sisters in Faith and the Discipleship Group, and I will be available for spiritual direction as I graduate from the program this month.
Thank you for making this the BEST job I have ever had - one where I can talk about God with people every day. I pray that my work has brought glory to God.
